KILLEEN ISD 23RD YEAR IN A ROW Receives "A" Rating - Superior achievement from financial integrity rating system of Texas graphic

Killeen ISD has once again earned a “Superior Achievement” rating on the state’s annual fiscal accountability review, marking the 23rd consecutive year the district has received the highest distinction.

At Tuesday’s Killeen ISD Board of Trustees workshop, Chief Financial Officer Kallen Vaden shared results from the 2025 School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) Report issued by the Texas Education Agency.

The 2025 rating is based on data from the 2023–2024 school year and evaluates districts across 21 indicators, including external audit findings, cash-on-hand, debt management, and staffing levels. Since the system’s inception in 2001, Killeen ISD has consistently earned the highest rating with a perfect score of 100.

Receiving the Superior Achievement rating demonstrates the district’s commitment to excellence in financial management and transparency. Districts that earn at least 90 out of 100 points receive the Superior designation. Killeen ISD achieved a perfect 100-point score.

“We are delighted to have earned a Superior Achievement in our financial report,” Vaden said. “This recognition highlights our commitment to transparency and excellent fiscal management. We manage the public’s tax dollars and take that responsibility very seriously. The dedication and hard work of our team has directly benefitted our students, staff, and schools.”
